He was a leader in the Buddhism world from the Meiji Era to the beginning of
the Taisyo Era. He held the post of chief priest of Kenchoji and Engakuji.
He was conferred the title of Tokeiji Reviver.

He revived the temple destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake, and
reconstructed the study and the main hall of the temple. He, as a painter
named Kuuka, left many drawings, such as the Kannon (the Goddess of Mercy),
Dharma, Hotei (one of the Seven Deities of Luck).
